Upside Down Down Under
No, this isn't a student prank. It is a piece of art. It is a statue of Charles La Trobe, the first lieutenant governor of Victoria and the person widely given credit for the fact that Melbourne is a very green city: he is responsible for many of the city's parks and other green space. According to the info on site, the artist Charles Robb was commenting on two sets of upside-down priorities: the fact that there are no other sculptures honoring La Trobe, and "Nineteenth Century value systems".
